The Target Corporation sponsored the fifth annual Career Workshop on June 10 at HeShan Middle School in Guangdong Province, China. Seven Target employees joined university student volunteers to facilitate the workshop for eight junior and senior students at HeShan Middle School.
The university student volunteers, some of whom graduated from HeShan Middle School, shared about their experiences in university with the eight high school students. The university students also facilitated many discussions including how to prioritize university choices, how to prepare for the National Higher Education Entrance Examination, and what to expect in university.
The Target volunteers facilitated discussions including what employers expect and advice on how to balance work and school. Target also supplied a gift study packet for all of the participants.
CWEF Interim Executive Director, Ms. Persephone James, was impressed with the professionalism of both the university students and the Target volunteers.
“The university student volunteers led most of the discussions and planned and managed the sessions well,” said Ms. James. “I was also impressed with the commitment of the volunteers from Target. One of the Target volunteers was volunteering for the fifth year. I am thankful for their professionalism and dedication to the students.”
