“It doesn’t have to be this way.” Those are words from the new song, Circle the Sun, released by the Hong Kong band, Alter Ego. The band recorded the song and music video this spring in order to support the cause of education for young women in China. Band members Parker Rudd and Jordan Marzo joined the Winter English Camp in western Guangdong and asked girls in the scholarship program to help them make their music video.
The band shares, “In January, we heard about a group called EMBER. It raises funds for scholarships given to girls in rural China who can’t afford to continue their education. So we decided to help them. Within a month, we had written and recorded an original song, ‘Circle The Sun’. We then went to Deqing, China to meet these girls and film a portion of the video.”
