From September 14 to 17, 2026, as a long-standing partners of CWEF, Concordia Shanghai International School invited Summer Tan, Executive Director of CWEF, and Shirley Lu, the new Director of Shining Star Organization, to visit the campus.
This was not an email, not a report, but four days of genuine co-creation.
From kindergarten to high school, we walked into classrooms at every stage, because we don’t just want more people to know about CWEF; we want more people to participate in CWEF.
Summer Shared the Story of CWEF in the Elementary School.
As we shared the stories of CWEF and Shining Star, we looked back again and again over the past two decades and more—at all the efforts countless Concordia students and teachers have made for CWEF and Shining Star: fundraising events, internship programs, service learning trips, campus presentations,, and more. We continue to be deeply grateful for all these opportunities to connect and collaborate.
But this time, we wanted to invite them to be more than supporters—we wanted them to be co-creators. We didn’t just go to tell. We went to invite.
We invited Concordia’s students and teachers, after learning about CWEF and Shining Star’s projects, to take action and to help us pass on our belief to more people: that education and health can change the destiny of disadvantaged children and families, and that this work can lead to more and more thriving communities.
For example, The 7th grader students have already taken action. They are helping CWEF design STEM lessons—lessons that will be used for students from low-income families in Hong Kong, helping them access better STEM education while also improving their mental well-being. This is not a simulation exercise. These are real lesson designs that will be implemented in Hong Kong within the coming year.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the CWEF Club in the high school are also working with us to plan the coming year’s club activities—so that more Concordia students can take part in CWEF’s project services and fundraising efforts.
And this is exactly what CWEF needs most right now—not just more attention, but deeper participation.
A story only truly comes alive when it is continually told, continually passed on, and continually participated in.

This year, CWEF’s Yunnan High School Scholarship Program and Cambodia University Scholarship Program are still not fully funded.
We need your support to continue the good work that was begun over two decades ago. No matter the amount, every gift directly translates into an educational opportunity for a child in need.

$576 can support a Yunnan high school student for one full year
$125 can support a Cambodia university student for one month
