Concordia International School Shanghai hosted their annual Gala & Auction event on March 12 at Kerry Hotel in Shanghai with the theme “We’re Going Back to STEM & Arts.”
Although the primary focus of this annual event is to raise funds for equipment and special initiatives to further enhance the educational experience for students at Concordia Shanghai, a portion of the proceeds each year is donated to CWEF, in cooperation with Concordia Shanghai’s YEP (Youth Empowering Progress) initiative. Furthermore, this year the auction organizers worked with CWEF to present a special ‘call to action’ inviting attendees to support the launch of the GROW program, which provides training and support to previous recipients of CWEF programs, equipping them to give back to young left-behind students in need. Prior to the event, one generous Concordia parent approached the auction organizers with an offer to jump-start the GROW fundraising push with a gift of 50,000 RMB. With this momentum kicking things off, CISS donors stepped forward to donate a total of 189,000 RMB for the launch of the GROW program. This amount will cover all of the costs for the first year of the GROW pilot program in rural Guangdong province, including training, transportation, equipment, materials and salaries, totaling 148,054 RMB. The extra funds raised for the GROW will support the program next fiscal year. Additional unrestricted funds totaling 109,881 RMB were also donated.
We at CWEF would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the donors and attendees at this year’s Concordia International School Shanghai Gala & Auction! Thank you for the love and support you have shown to the precious children who are being impacted by the GROW program.
